Glory Days!

"Glory days,
well they'll pass you by,
Glory days.
In the wink of a young girl's eye.
Glory days, glory days"
~Bruce Springstein

On Saturday, January 21st, I had the fabulous opportunity to head back "home"
to Northern Kentucky University for homecoming.  When I think back over my memories of NKU, I honestly cannot pick a favorite. The four years I spent at Northern were truly THE BEST four years of my life.  If I could go back and experience it all over again, I would in a heartbeat!

The last time I went to NKU's homecoming, it was to support one of my favorite friends,Delta Gamma sister, and Grand Little, Savannah, as she became NKU's Homecoming Queen.

I was so excited all day on Saturday to reunite with friends I had not seen in awhile, and laugh with friends that I have.
I could barely contain my excitement!

I did not get too many pics from Saturday night :(
because I was too busy talking! (Shocker right?!?!)
Here are a few that I snapped:

Me & Anne

Keith & Jim

I am also stealing this from Savannah (thanks girl!) because I thought it was so cute!

"And how did this year's homecoming race go?" you ask.
Delta Gamma swept all homecoming royalty: Duchess (Freshman),
Princess (Sophomore), and Queen (Juniors/Seniors)!
We have not done that since 2007!
Goooo Dee Gee!
Oh yeah, and I heard we won the game, too!

Thank you to all of the friends who made it a wonderful evening!
Miss you all!

Now, I need to start planning our alumni sisterhood retreat.... :)

St.Bernard helping out

Friday night, Keith and I were invited to a Toys for Tots fundraiser held at St. Bernard City Hall.
We didn't know too much about the fundraiser, but what we had heard is
that on December 27th someone robbed the storage unit where the U.S. Marine Corps
was keeping all of the toys they collected for their annual Toys for Tots campaign.

A few days later, the St.Bernard Police captured the robbers and were able to find 90% of the stolen items.
In order to make up for the lost toys, St.Bernard held a fundraiser on January 20th.
Keith and I had NO IDEA going in what a huge event this was going to be
(or we would have told more people to come!).

We paid $10 a piece to get in the doors,
and this included all we could eat Skyline, Larosa's, or B-Dubs
and 3 beer tickets.

As we walked in the door, I immediately spotted Keith's "favorite" mascot, Gapper.
(I say "favorite" because he actually despises Gapper and thinks that he is a pointless mascot since the Reds already have 3...yes 3...other mascots!).
I thought it would be HILARIOUS for Keith to get a picture! hehe

So of course, Keith had me get one too...pay backs!

We also played some games--
I won $6 on Big Six, and after losing twice in a row,
I decided to walk away a winner with my $4!
I know, I'm a big spender right?!?!

We had a great time with friends and family
and we hope that St.Bernard will continue this fun event in the future!

Gotta love 3 day weekends!

3 day weekends are like a breath of fresh air!
I love that when I start back to school tomorrow, it will already be Tuesday!
Score!

On Friday, we celebrated Keith's grandpa's 86th birthday!
I hope Keith and my future children take after those genes!

Saturday we FINALLY took down all of the Christmas decor.
It has been a busy month and we haven't had the time to get it all down,
but it is finally down and now Valentine's Day items rest in their place.

Sunday we celebrated my step-dad, Troy's birthday.
He would rather I not share his age on here. :)

Today I went to the dentist and came home and had a long phone call with Verizon
who is overcharging us by $60.
Anyone else ever have a problem with Verizon?
What carriers do you all use?

To end my day, my sister and I ran 8 miles!
Our personal best so far!
Flying Pig--here we come!

Here's to a 4 day week!

Love,
Tif

Better late than never!

Happy Thursday Bloggy Friends!

It is Thursday afternoon and it is snowing in Cincy!
(Snow day tomorrow?! Wishful thinking!)

Due to the inclement weather, I decided to leave my classroom
at 3:30 like I am supposed to!

Since I am home so early, I decided to play around with the blog.
Do you like the new design?

I also decided to upload some funny pics from New Year's Eve.
(Better late than never right?)

New Year's Eve is one of my favorite holidays because we dress up and go out!
The boys look so nice in their dress shirts and ties,
and the ladies look amazing in cocktail dresses!

Before we went out, our friends came over to watch the UC game and pre game before we went out.
Jaida stopped by to give Aunt Tif one last kiss before 2011 was over. :)

For the past two years, a group of our friends has gotten together and purchased tickets to
Bar Louie in Newport.

With our purchase, we get free drinks from 9-midnight, all you can eat buffet, and champagne toast at midnight.  Plus A LOT of dancing!! Woohoo! (My favorite!)

Here is our group pic right before we went in
(We like to call this our last sober picture of 2011)

Take a look at some more crazy pics!

Here we are at midnight!
Happy New Year!

And right after this picture was taken....
the tie came off!

Cheers to a happy, healthy, prosperous  new year!

Playing with the new phone...

Keith and I finally moved into the technological world and got smart phones! Here Keith is the day we bought them. :)

I really should take this Christmas wallpaper down...

Happy New Year bloggy world!
At some point I will take down the Merry Christmas wallpaper, but finding time lately is challenging! I am very particular about what my blog background looks like, and could possibly spend HOURS looking for the perfect one.  So, since it's 9:30 and I am craving to dive back into my "book" (I use the word "book" loosely because Santa brought me a Kindle for Christmas! Thanks Santa, you're the best!), I think I will make this short and sweet just to let you all know that the Messers are still alive!
(Why do I go on these blog breaks?!).

So, what have the Messers been up to?
After a fabulous Christmas and VERY SHORT  winter break for me (we're talking only 8 days here people!), Keith and I are both back to work.  I have been busy getting my Individual Professional Development Plan (IPDP) together because my teaching license expires this year
(Wow! I feel like I just filed for a new license and now it's time to do it again!).

I also have been busy running, running, running.
Check out my stats on daily mile!
On my list of to-dos: register for a Heart Half Marathon that I plan to run in March.
I have already registered to run the 26.2 mile Flying Pig race on May 6....123 days away!
Yesterday I ran 7.2 miles--my personal best since I started avidly running in September.
It was definitely difficult, but when I finished I felt amazing!  Today was a resting day from running, but tomorrow it's back to it to run a 30 minute short recovery run.  A short recovery run is one that is very comfortable and allows my body to recover from the strenuous 7.2 random hill workout.

Speaking of tomorrow-- Happy birthday to Keithers!  Keith and I have totally different views about birthdays.  For my birthday, I made him take me on a trip  he was sweet and kind and took me on a trip, but he just wants me to take him to B Dubs!  Am I high maintenance? I must also say, that I am the type of person that loves surprises and do not want one single birthday present early.  Keith on the other hand, let my eager self give him his presents today since we won't have numerous amounts of time together tomorrow.  Opposites attract, right?

Also, can anyone tell me if I'm able to post pics from my phone directly to the blog?
Keith and I both got new phones in December and I have been taking pics like crazy, but didn't know if there was a way to directly upload them to the blog without connecting to my computer?
Any help from the pros is appreciated!

Okay, I think it's time to do some pleasure reading...
Night all!
